The (Wo)man Behind the Magic

Southern Spice Dance Academy is presented to you by the most talented Crystal Williams. SSDA offers various dance genres with future trajectory toward pre-professional programs, dance competitions, and musical training to include singing and acting training, and adult classes. The creator of this destiny, Crystal is a native of Jacksonville, Florida, where she graduated with honors from Jacksonville University. She is known for her roles as an educator, mentor, sister, daughter, and professional entertainer for life. Crystal earned a scholarship to the internationally acclaimed Dance Theatre of Harlem, where she furthered her dance study and performed with their apprentice company in New York City. Many pirouettes later led Crystal to the Broadway Musical Theatre track spanning the globe from the U.S.S.R., Japan, and Europe to the Kennedy Center. She graduated from S.O.M.E.T. III (School of Ministerial Education and Training) and led the Prison Ministry’s Creative Arts team at The Church of Jacksonville, ministering to inmates on a regular basis. In addition to musical theatre and ministry, Crystal has appeared in numerous industrials, commercial print ads for Disney, and national magazines, also recording her first CD entitled, “Crystal Sings Part I.” Crystal’s song and dance career has been the true circle of life.

Crystal has served many years as a dance instructor, developing Camden County’s first Dance program, choreographing for Madison Community Theater and Georgia 4-H Clovers & Company, and also serving as dance master instructor for Music Education Matters Summit (MEMS) for Georgia 4-H Southeast region. For the past 8 years, Crystal has managed her dance studio, Southern Spice Dance Academy and is currently serving in the public school system as a Dance Educator for Oak Hill Middle School.

It is believed that arts in education is vital for the complete development of the student. Positive reinforcement coupled with hard work are essential ingredients for success.

Crystal’s Philosophy: “I am careful not to confuse excellence with perfection; excellence I can reach for, perfection is God’s business.”
